Charles Barry

Sir Charles Barry was an English architect active in the 19th century. Barry began his career being articled to surveyors in Lambeth, London, England in 1810. He then visited Italy, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, as a draughtsman, and later established himself in Holborn, London, England as an architect. Adept at winning competitions, Barry developed one of the largest country house practices in the mid-19th century.
