Thomas White The Elder

Thomas White the Elder was a designer active in the 18th century. He was associated with Lancelot Brown in the 1760s, but soon acted independently, particularly in Yorkshire, England. Passionate about planting, many schemes earned White awarded medals from the Society of Arts. During the 1780s his commissions became exclusively Scottish.
