Introduction

Lower Hall is a large, timber-framed farmhouse of the mid-16th century. From 1965, 4-acre gardens were developed there by Mr and Mrs Christopher Dumbell. Those gardens are described in an article in the periodical 'Country Life' (1977).The nearby Wyken estate is now in use as a golf course.
