Introduction

Parts of a grand 17th-century layout survive at Tredegar Park, although the integrity of the site has been compromised by road development. A late 18th-century landscaping phase included the creation of a sinuous lake and the removal of some formal elements such as 17th-century avenues. The gardens consisted of several compartments, one of which has recently been restored to its 18th-century layout with parterres of inorganic materials and a small mount.

The park is open daily fom 9am until dusk. The house and gardens are open from Easter to October.

Directions

Tredegar House is two miles west of Newport city centre. Follow signs from the A48 or take exit 28 from the M4.

The nearest railway station is Newport.

Local bus services 15 and 30 stop near to the House and Park.
