Brief Description

Machen House has a mid-19th-century garden with a well-preserved mock-Gothic structure which includes castellated boundary walls and mock turrets. Remnants of the informal garden include two naturalistic ponds.

History

Augustus Morgan built the house and laid out the gardens between 1831 and 1835. The site included a maze garden and kitchen garden which no longer exist.
