Brief Description
Only scattered fragments of planting survive of the once extensive 18th- and 19th-century designed landscape associated with Drongan House. The site has been adversely affected by coal mining.
History
The Smith family purchased the estate in about 1760 and laid out tree-lined parks and avenues. By the mid-19th century the expanded designed landscape comprised an encircling belt of planting and a broad vista westwards to further landscaping. The planting became depleted through the 20th century.
