The son of the architect, Auguste Charles Pugin, Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin was noted for his work in architecture and design as well as his writing on the subjects. His use of Gothic style demonstrated not only his keen interest in ornate artwork but also his love of medieval buildings. He is perhaps best known for his work on the Houses of Parliament, alongside fellow architect Charles Barry.
