Now privately owned, this is a scrubby area with grass, paths and some trees.
The site was purchased by Camberwell Borough Council in 1905 for a sum of £2,000 and Varcoe Road Recreation Ground was opened to the public in 1906. It is protected by the London Squares and Enclosures (Preservation) Act of 1906
