Bodnant, Dell 3712

Tal y Cafn, Wales

Brief Description

The Dell lies in the steep stream valley of the Hiraethlyn. Generations of Aberconways have added to the planting so that the Dell is now a lush woodland and stream garden with a varied underplanting of shrubs, including rhododendrons.

History

The Dell started as a pinetum when Henry Pochin began planting exotic conifers there in the late-19th century. He also constructed and planted up rockeries and created pools and cascades.
