Eton Grove Open Space has access from North Way and Rugby Road, and roads in the area are named after famous public schools.
Probably developed in the early 1930s, to the north was Laings Estate. Bacon Lane was an ancient track, parts of which remain, and maps up to the 1920s show its route through agricultural land into the 20th century. The area was developed from the 1930s following the arrival of the railways.
