Introduction

The 1st edition Ordnance Survey map shows the site laid out in Victorian landscape style with two ponds. Horsfield (see references) describes the site as 'a neat modern building commanding fine views, erected by Major Dalbiac and afterwards sold to the late James Donovan'.
