Brief Description
Cockhill is situated on the south-eastern outskirts of Ayr and the site is bounded by industrial and other development. Contemporary maps suggest that the original 18th- or 19th-century rectilinear layout survives.
History
The name Cockhill first appears on a map dating from 1775, but without planting. The designed landscape had been laid out by the mid-19th century.
