This site has an extensive landscape park and woodland associated with the picturesque ruins of 12th-century Bolton Abbey. Current features include a sculpture trail.

History

Bolton Abbey originally dates back to the 12th century. The abbey was dissolved in 1539, and the landscape park was created at a later date. Ornamental walks were laid out at some time around the late 18th and early 19th century.
