Brief Description

There is a deer park associated with Belfast Castle on the slopes of Cave Hill. The house dates from about 1868-70 and there is tree planting from that date. There are formal gardens at the house. The site was donated as a park in 1934.


The castle gardens were marked on a map of 1685, then lost, though the deer park survives. The present house and formal garden date from 1868. The site has been a public amenity since 1934.
