Mr John Webb (architect)

Webb was the son-in-law and personal assistant to the architect and theatre designer Inigo jones from 1628, having married Jones' niece Anne. Upon Jones' death in 1652, Webb inherited both a substantial fortune and library of drawings and designs, many of which dated back to Jones' influential travels to Italy. This helped to inform Webb's rise to prominence in the mid-17th century.
