Brief Description

Thornton Lodge is one of a series of large villas built by the 1840s. The site is on the north side of the Peel Road out of Douglas.

History

There was a landscaped garden with trees, walks, glasshouses and a kitchen garden. A gardener's notebook with a calender survives from 1844, along with lists of trees, apples, dahlias and vegetables from 1844-7.
