The Rope Gardens

Introduction

The site consists of the Rope Gardens on either side of South Street and the associated drying fields and pasture land west of South Street.

The site consists of the surviving Rope Gardens on either side of South Street, along with associated allotments, drying fields and pasture land west of South Street. The presence of this site within the urban area of Bridport represents an important and fragile survival of an early industrial landscape. It has county and wider significance, given the very limited survival of such landscapes.
