Stumps from a mid-19th-century avenue line one of the drives and the small garden probably dates from the late-19th century. The house is now a hotel.

History

Pencerrig was home to Thomas Jones, a foremost Welsh landscape painter and student of the Picturesque in the late-18th century. Jones landscaped the grounds, constructing an artificial lake and planting many trees, both deciduous and coniferous.
