Brief Description
Overstone is an 18th- to 19th-century park of 66 hectares, with a lake. It is laid out as a golf and leisure complex.
History
The main house was originally a modest 18th-century Palladian mansion. In the late-19th century Lord Overstone commissioned William Milford Teulon to design a vast addition in French Renaissance style, and the park was remodelled, with a large lake. The house was occupied by the Overstone School for Girls for 50 years until it was sold to the New Testament Church of God in 1980. The house was gutted by fire in 2001. The site became a golf and leisure complex in the 21st century.
