Farnley Hall, Otley 6846

England, North Yorkshire, Harrogate

Brief Description

This site has a landscape park associated with an Elizabethan hall (with Carr additions of the late-1700s). JMW Turner painted Farnley several times and Loudon may have been involved with improvements.

History

The Ordnance Survey map of 1909 shows the hall, terrace, fountains, stable block, driveways, avenues, wilderness, ice house, lakes, parkland, lodges, possible walled garden, and glass houses. It is unclear how many of these features survive.
