St James' Garden & Crescent 3097

Swansea, Wales

Brief Description

St James' Gardens and Crescent is a small, well-preserved, urban public park. The site was laid out as an integral part of the town layout, flanked by substantial villas. Minimal modern intrusion results in the gardens in particular retaining a Victorian character.

History

The site was designed in two separate sections: the crescent with its church of 1863-7 and the gardens sometime between 1878 and 1913.
