This sports field is a memorial to those from Blean who fell in World War 1. A dedication is inscribed on a plaque on the left-hand gatepost.

History

The site, which had previously been a smallholding serving as a market garden, was suggested as a memorial site in a parish council meeting of 1919. The measure was passed unanimously.
