Porter's Park 7594

Hertfordshire, England

Brief Description

Research on this landscape is underway and will be added as soon as it is available.

History

There is evidence that the owner, Admiral Howe, wrote to Lancelot Brown in 1773 asking him to call as 'my ambition is to benefit from your lights'. No evidence has been discovered to indicate that Brown did visit or undertake any commission. However, Howe had bought the property from George Mason, the garden writer, and may have consulted him (Mason was no admirer of Brown).
