Detailed History

Hornby Castle tower was built in 1558. The current Castle was built in 1849-52 for Purdsey Dawson by Sharpe and Paley. The Castle was remodelled in 1889 by Paley and Austin. Later, much of the Castle was demolished and remodelled.
