Down Grange Park

Introduction

Down Grange Park is an 18th-century house, refaced in the Regency period. The grounds included a large (8 hectare) walled garden with a pond, glasshouses and Gothic gate. The local authority took ownership in 1965 and substantially changed the uses and layout of the site. This new use is recorded as a separate component area. The house is now a pub and the grounds are a sports centre. Both are available to the public, but have only some of the original features.
