Lea Hurst is a Grade II listed manor house set in the Lea of the Derwent Valley. The 17th-century house lies in a beautifully laid out Victorian garden.
Lea Hurst is most famous as the childhood home of Florence Nightingale and the house was enlarged by the Nightingales. After the end of the Crimean War, it was to Lea Hurst that Florence returned. Lea Hurst became a residential nursing home for many years, until 2006 when it was sold to a private party.
