Brief Description
Cloncaird is set on a steep slope above the Water of Girvan just north of the neighbouring Blairquhan estate. The present designed landscape was laid out in the early-19th century when the house was rebuilt.
History
The original castle at Cloncaird dates from the 16th century. There is written record of the 17th century detailing gardens, orchards and woodland planting. A modest estate was in place by the late-18th century, which was further developed in the early-19th century. After a period as a convalescent home, Cloncaird has been privately owned since the late-20th century and is available for private hire.
