Thomas Beddoes

Dr Thomas Beddoes was a scientist, doctor, political radical and philanthropist, active in the late-18th and early-19th centuries. He studied medicine and chemistry at Edinburgh University, Scotland and at Oxford University, England and pioneered the use of gases in the treatment of disease at the Pneumatic Institution for Inhalation Gas Therapy in Bristol, England.
