John William Simpson

John William Simpson, architect, was born on 9th August 1858. He was privately educated and was articled to his father, the architect Thomas Simpson, in 1878. He later attended the Royal Academy Schools. He was an associated of the Royal Institute of British Architects from 1882 and later rose to be President of the Institute from 1919-21. Commissions include the Victoria Institute, Worcester (1896), Gresham's School buildings (1903), as well as Lister Park, West Yorkshire (1904). Simpson died on 30th March 1933.
