John van Nost the Elder was a sculptor who came from Belgium to England in the later-17th century. He worked on statues, garden figures, monuments and vases for a number of well-known sites in the late-17th and early-18th century. He died in London on April 26th, 1729, and the business was carried on by his son John van Nost the Younger.
