Edward Stevens was a pupil of Sir William Chambers. Stevens designed a new front and portico at Spye Park in Wiltshire for Sir
Edward Bayntun Bt. He also designed a new house in Derbyshire for Sir Henry Cavendish Bt. This was called Doveridge Hall, and was demolished in 1938. Stevens died in Florence in 1775.
