Wooferton Park (also known as Woofferton)6729

Wooferton, England, Shropshire

Brief Description

There are few physical remains of the medieval park at Wooferton, but indications of local field names demonstrate its former extent.

History

In the 14th century, there was a park at Wooferton. That park no longer exists, but field names indicate that it lay about a mile north-west of the village of Wooferton, south of Park Lane.

In 1337, Joan Talbot's Wooferton Park was broken into, and deer, rabbits, hares, pheasants and partridges were taken. Little else is known of the park.
