William Lambarde

In 1568, a decade after qualifying as a lawyer, William Lambarde published 'Archaionomia', a collection of Anglo-Saxon laws. By 1576 he had published the first history of a British county, Perambulation of Kent, having served as as a Member of Parliament for Aldborough in the Parliament of 1563-1567. In 1601, the year of his death, William Lambarde was appointed Keeper of the Records in the Tower by Queen Elizabeth I.
