William Graham Holford held the Lever Chair of Civic Design at the University of Liverpool in 1936. During the Second World War Holford held appointments at the Ministry of Supply (1939-42) and Ministry of Town and Country Planning (1943-46). He later became a Professor of Town Planning at University College London from 1948-1970.
