Stephen Gardiner was an architect and writer born in London in 1924. He was from an artistic background and qualified as an architect in 1948. He founded his own practice in 1957, working in partnership with Christopher Knight in the 1960s. He also taught at several architectural institutions from the 1950s to the 1980s.
