Simon Thomas

Simon Thomas, sculptor, graduated from the Royal College of Art in 1988. In 1993 Thomas, Professor John Steeds and Professor Sir Michael Berry of Bristol University, co-founded the 'Artist in residence' programme sponsored by Wingate, which created a two-year fellowship. Following the programme, Thomas took part in the 'Order in Space' project at Hewlett Packard's European research headquarters in Bristol. In 2002 he returned to Bristol University as an artist in residence at the School of Mathematics. Between 2005 and 2006, Simon worked on a commission for the Mathematics department at Portsmouth University where he investigated the geometric structure of the soap bubble form.
