Robert Walpole

Robert Walpoe, 1st Earl of Orford was the first Prime Minister of Great Britain. In terms of his connections to designed landscapes his main contribution was made at his seat, Houghton Hall, Norfolk. The house was one of the first buildings to be created in the Palladian style by Colen Campbell, James Gibbs and William Kent.
