Nolin

The Abbé Nolin was a French botanist and plant collector. He was adviser to Louis XV and Louis XVI and inspector of the royal nurseries.

Nolin exchanged a number of letters about plants with Charles Hamilton of Painshill between 1755 and 1759. This correspondence has helped to establish the plants that Hamilton grew or may have grown in carrying out the restoration of the landscape at Painshill.
