Watson was a painter who had first studied in the Royal Academy Schools before moving to Italy and studying in Rome. He returned in 1828 when he worked for Francis Chantry, before creating his own business.His known works include the panel for The Battle of St Vincent for Nelson's Column in Trafalgar Square, London.
