Matthew Noble

Sculptor Matthew Noble was baptised on 23 March 1817 in Yorkshire. He was first apprenticed to his father, a stonemason, before becoming a pupil of sculptor John Francis in London.

Noble was a leading supplier of public statues and monuments in the north west of England in the mid-19th century. He also created several notable public statues in London.
