John Templeton was an Irish merchant and horticulturalist during the 18th and early-19th centuries. He was a keen botonist, being in contact with other horticulturalists of the period including Sir William Hooker and William Turner. Templeton created his own garden at Cranmore, Belfast, but is well known as one of the early supporters of the Belfast Botanical Gardens in 1809.
