Harford Jones Brydges

Sir Harford Jones Brydges was born on 12 January 1764. In May of 1826 Jones assumed the surname Brydges in commemoration of his maternal grandmother. Through his work in the East India Company Jones Brydges developed a proficiency in oriental languages. In 1807 he was created a baronet in recognition of his role as the envoy-extraordinary to the court of Persia. Jones Brydges died at his seat at Boultibrook, near Presteigne, on 17 March 1847.
