Francis Sandys

Francis Sandys was an Irish architect who, following a visit to Rome, settled in Bury St Edmonds in 1793. Sandys exhibited at the Royal Academy on a number of occasions and is most famous for his work at New Court House, Durham in 1809. The work was deemed fraudulent and had to be replaced.
