Clement Winstanley inherited the Braunstone Estate from his father, James, in 1770. In 1775 he commissioned the local architect and builder, William Oldham, to construct the present Braunstone Hall. At this time, Clement Winstanley also held the Office of High Sheriff of Leicester.
