Ben Nicholson

Ben Nicholson was known as the foremost modernist painter of his generation and received the Rembrandt prize in 1974 in recognition of his contribution to 20th century art. Nicholson also pursued an interest in landscape architecture and, working with the landscape architect Geoffrey Jellicoe, produced Nicholson Wall at Sutton Place in Surrey, the largest abstract piece produced in a 20th-century British garden.
