Godfrey Sykes

Godfrey Sykes, designer, was born in New Malton, Yorkshire. Early in his career he was well-known for his metalwork designs as well as domestic decorative schemes. After he left Yorkshire for London in 1859, Sykes worked on the Horticultural Society's new buildings and later at the South Kensington Museum (now the Victoria and Albert Museum). Sykes died on 28th Fenbruary 1866.
