Francis Smith

Francis Smith, architect and builder, is best known for rebuilding the town of Warwick after a fire which provided him with an opportunity to further his career. He was responsible for building a group of churches and a number of public buildings, as well as a series of country houses throughout the midlands. He became a leading master builder in Warwick and established a reputation which extended well beyond it. Smith was buried at Warwick on 9 April 1738.
