Blenheim Palace gardens named Garden of the Year

The historic gardens at Blenheim Palace have been named Garden of the Year by the Historic Houses Association. The 80 acres of formal gardens were originally designed by Henry Wise in the early 18th century to complement the Palace designed by Sir John Vanbrugh.

Later stages of development include the landscape park, designed byLancelot 'Capability' Brown around 1760, and more modern areas of the gardens designed by Achille Duchene in the early 20th century.
