Beckley Park probably dates from before the Norman Conquest, and was enclosed in the 12th century. The house developed through the medieval period, reaching its present form in about 1540. It originally had three concentric moats dating from the 14th century. It features yew and box topiary gardens which date from the 1920s.

St Mary's, Painswick is a churchyard with 18th-century topiary around a 14th-century church. Features include a highly rated collection of late 17th- and 18th-century table tombs of oolitic limestone carved in the Renaissance tradition, many with inscribed brass plates.
