Brief history of site

The present house was built in the 1760s by the Earl of Holderness, replacing an earlier building. An additional wing was added later. The park was re-modelled shortly afterwards, probably to the designs of Lancelot Brown. The estate has now been broken up and the house is a hotel and wedding/conference centre.
